1. Quotes and the work included
- A quote describes the work we have agreed to carry out, the price and any assumptions or exclusions. Please check it carefully and tell us about anything that is unclear before accepting.
- Unless the quote says otherwise, a quote is valid for 30 days from the date it is issued. If it expires, we may need to provide a revised quote.
- The quoted price covers only the work and materials specifically listed. Additional work, changes, or unforeseen work are not included unless agreed separately.
- We will tell you about any additional cost and obtain your agreement before carrying out additional chargeable work. If we cannot reach you, we may pause the work.
- A quote may need to change if the information you provided was incomplete or inaccurate, or if hidden conditions are found that could not reasonably have been identified before work began. We will explain the reason and agree any revised price with you before proceeding.
2. Booking and access
- A booking is confirmed when you accept the quote or otherwise agree to the work and we confirm the booking.
- We will agree an appointment date or an arrival window with you. If something outside our reasonable control affects the appointment, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible to rearrange it.
- You must provide safe and timely access to the property, including any necessary keys, parking arrangements, permissions or access codes. You must ensure that someone authorised is available where needed.
- We may pause or decline to start work if the property is unsafe, access is unavailable, or essential information or permissions have not been provided. We will discuss any resulting delay or additional cost with you first.
3. Prices, deposits and payment
- The quote will state whether the price is fixed or based on an estimate, and whether it includes materials, labour and any applicable taxes.
- No deposit is payable unless the quote says one is required. If a deposit is required, the quote will state the amount, when it is due and how it will be treated against the final bill.
- Unless the quote states otherwise, payment is due when the agreed work is completed. We accept payment by bank transfer or another method agreed with you in advance.
- If an invoice is issued, it must be paid by the due date shown on it. If no due date is shown, payment is due within 7 days of the invoice date.
- If you dispute any part of an invoice, please contact us promptly and explain why. You must pay any undisputed amount by its due date.
- For business customers, we may charge interest and reasonable recovery costs on overdue amounts where permitted by law. We will not charge a consumer a fee that is not permitted by law.
4. Materials and parts
- The quote will state whether we or you are supplying the materials and parts.
- Where we supply them, the cost will be included in the quote or agreed with you before purchase. We will not add an undisclosed materials markup.
- Where you supply them, you are responsible for ensuring they are suitable, complete and available when needed. We are not responsible for delays or defects caused by customer-supplied materials, but we will let you know if we identify a concern.
- If additional materials or parts become necessary, we will explain the cost and obtain your agreement before purchasing or using them, except where immediate action is reasonably needed to prevent injury or further damage.
5. Changes, cancellation and rescheduling
- Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel a booking.
- If you give at least 48 hours’ notice, we will not charge a cancellation fee. We will make reasonable efforts to agree a new appointment if you wish to reschedule.
- If you cancel or reschedule with less than 48 hours’ notice, we may charge a late notice fee of £20 to cover the cost of the lost appointment slot.
- The late notice fee in paragraph 3 will not apply if we manage to fill the appointment slot, or if the cancellation was outside your reasonable control. We will always explain any charge before we ask you to pay it.
- If we need to cancel or reschedule, we will give you as much notice as reasonably possible and offer another appointment. We will not charge you for work we have not carried out.
- This section does not reduce any statutory cancellation rights you may have under section 10.
6. Your responsibilities
You must:
- Give us accurate information about the work and the property, including any known hazards, defects or restrictions.
- Move or protect furniture, valuables and personal belongings in the work area, unless we have agreed to do this.
- Keep children, pets and other people away from the work area while work is underway.
- Obtain any permissions that are your responsibility, such as landlord, building management or neighbour consent.
- Tell us promptly if you are concerned about the work or believe something has gone wrong.
7. Workmanship guarantee
- We guarantee our workmanship for 12 months from the date the work is completed.
- If you tell us during that period that our workmanship is defective, we will inspect the issue and, where it is due to our failure to carry out the agreed work with reasonable care and skill, put it right at no additional labour charge.
- This guarantee does not cover defects or damage caused by fair wear and tear, misuse, lack of maintenance, accidental damage, changes made by someone else, pre-existing conditions, or materials supplied by you.
- This guarantee is in addition to, and does not replace or restrict, your legal rights. Any manufacturer’s warranty on parts or products is subject to the manufacturer’s terms.
8. Work we do not undertake
Unless we expressly confirm otherwise in writing and have the required qualifications and approvals, our services do not include:
- Asbestos inspection, removal or other work involving asbestos.
- Gas work that must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
- Structural work requiring specialist design, certification or building control approval.
- Electrical work requiring a qualified or certified electrician.
- Work requiring a licence, certification, permit or specialist qualification that we do not hold.
We may stop work if we discover a hazard or that the job requires work outside our agreed scope or competence. We will explain the issue and discuss suitable next steps.
9. Liability
- We will carry out the agreed work with reasonable care and skill.
- We are responsible for loss or damage that is reasonably foreseeable and caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill, including damage to your property caused by our negligence.
- Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any consumer rights that cannot legally be restricted.
- We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, hidden defects or loss caused by inaccurate information, unsafe conditions, or materials supplied by you, except to the extent our own negligence or breach of contract caused the loss.
- For business customers only, and subject to paragraphs 2 and 3 above, our total liability arising from a job will not exceed the amount paid or payable for that job. We are not liable to a business customer for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit, revenue, business or opportunity, where the law allows that exclusion.
- Nothing in these terms limits a consumer’s rights or remedies under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable consumer law.
10. Consumer cancellation rights
This section applies if you are a consumer and the contract is made at a distance, such as by phone or email, or off-premises, such as at your home. It does not apply to a contract made at our business premises.
- You generally have the right to cancel within 14 days after the date the contract is made, without giving a reason. This is called the cancellation period.
- To cancel, tell us clearly by email or post using the contact details above. You may use the cancellation form below, but you do not have to.
- If you ask us to start work during the 14-day cancellation period, you must make that request expressly. If you then cancel after work has started, you may have to pay a proportionate amount for the work carried out up to the time you tell us you are cancelling.
- If you ask us to start during the cancellation period and the service is fully completed within that period, you lose the right to cancel once the work is fully completed only if you gave your express prior consent for the work to start and acknowledged that you would lose the cancellation right on full completion.
- We will not treat a booking alone as your request for work to start during the cancellation period, or as your acknowledgement that you will lose the right to cancel.
- Where the law requires it, we will provide cancellation information and a cancellation form when the contract is made.
- If you cancel within the statutory period, we will refund any payment due to you within the time required by law. Your statutory rights are not affected by our separate booking cancellation policy.
